Carlos grew up in the beautiful country of Venezuela, with his loving mother and father. Since he was young, he had a fiery passion for the great American pastime, baseball. He had the natural talent, passion, and drive to become a professional baseball player, but wasn’t born in a place that could foster his full potential. So, Carlos moved to the U.S. in pursuit of his dream.

Without speaking any English or knowing anyone, he attended MLB spring training in 2004 to embark on a journey that changed his life. By 2007, Carlos was ranked as the top prospect in the Phillies organization and all of Major League Baseball. Thanks to his pure determination and network of supporters, he made his MLB debut with the Cleveland Indians in 2009. Now, #59 is the starting pitcher for the Indians.

Carlos’ growing success inspires the Carrasco family to create opportunities for disadvantaged children. Carlos wants every child, especially from low-income families, to be nurtured in strong foundations, where they can grow up to make their own difference and pursue their own dreams. By investing in early childhood education, Carlos and his family are intent on helping less-fortunate individuals as well as positively impacting society.

“I always put in my mind that there would be this opportunity for me, because a lot of people helped me.” – Carlos Carrasco
